     Professor YongjieShi wasborn in Qianyang county, Shanxi province inNov. 1961, graduated from Northwest A&F University (A&F)in Aug. 1982, earned the bachelor degree and started his research work in Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences at the same year.
Served formeras a vice-magistrate in People’s Government of Dongming County of Shandong Province, director of Forage and Grassland Agriculture Division of Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, head of the Lanzhou Scientific Observation and Experiment Field Station of Ministry of Agriculture for Ecological System in Loess Plateau Areas, director of Experimental StationManagement Division. And now, he is the director of Forage and Grassland Agriculture Division of Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, tutor of postgraduate of Chinese academy of agricultural sciencesand Gansu Agricultural University, outstanding talent of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Also the member ofcouncil ofChinese Grassland Society,Grassland Branch of China Animal Husbandry Association, Feed Production Committee of Chinese Grassland Society, Forage Germplasm Resources Committee of Chinese Grassland Society, Ecological Professional Committee of Chinese Grassland Society, Grassland Society of Gansu Province. Member of North American Alfalfa Improvement Conference(NAAIC) and editors of the China Herbivores Magazine,
     Prof. Yongjie Shi has mainly engaged in forage breeding and cultivating, grassland improving, grassland ecological environment construction for 30 years.Successively completed the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Agriculture and other kinds of research program more than 30 items as a chief, won the 12 of governmental science and technology achievement award and 5 of departmental award. He has published about120 academic papers and 9 academic works in past years.6 of his students have completed their graduate program and earned theirmaster’s degreein their graduate’s time. He has gone abroad many timesfor academic exchanges as a senior scholar.
    And now, prof. Shi is performing theproject of National Basic Research Development Program (973 program) "the Influence of Climate Change to Food Production Resources in NorthwesternArea of Spring Wheat and Quarterly Corn", National Public Welfare Industry (Agriculture) Special Funds Projects"the Study and Demonstration of Protection and Rational Utilization Technologyof Natural Grassland in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Community", National Science and Technology Support Project "Study on Security Technology and Adaptive Management Model of Grassland Production, Ecological andLife of Nomads on Key Areas of Grassland" and other research subjects.
