 “The 1st International Conference on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine” was successfully held in Lanzhou on September 13 to 16, 2010, which was organized by Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and American Association of TCVM, and hosted by Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences of CAAS.
XUE Liang, Secretary of Party Leadership Group of CAAS, attended the conference and delivered a warm speech. YANG Zhiqiang, the director of Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences of CAAS and the chairman of the 1st International Conference on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, presided over the opening ceremony and gave a speech.
More than 60 experts and scholars from American, Spain, Netherlands, German, Canada, Japan, Australia, Korea, Thailand, and 120 experts from Hongkong, Taiwan and mainland of China attended the conference. The experts knew about the latest advances and the development trends of their research fields at home and abroad through plenary lectures. We were surprised to find out the foreign counterparts, especially from American and Japan, has got remarkable achievements in theories and technologies research of TCVM, which put pressure on domestic scholars, at same time, it provided a good opportunity for the development of TCVM. With the food safety problems is increasingly serious, the research and the application of TCVM attracted more and more attention, because of its specific properties of low toxicity and no residual. Nevertheless, it is still a problem for integrating the research of traditional and western veterinary medicine to the scholars all over the world.
